“Francis Mallmann on growing up” is based on a quote from the well known Argentinian chef where he talks about friendship, coming of age and the value of being true to your own feelings and to the people closest to you.
His message is a little controversial perhaps, but it reveals a man that has a clear understanding of his own history and is very true to his feelings…even if it hurts.
We were happy to hear from Daniel and Yaniv about a new short they were working on, and we really liked the approach and the the narrative. With any non-client project that we take on, it is paramount that we use the opportunity to experiment, push an aesthetic, or simply try to find different ways to challenge ourselves creatively. For this one, we really liked the abstract storytelling style, and decided to utilize a true collaborative approach, where in stages, each of us would add elements to the composition and pass back to the other to see what new ideas came from the previous layer. We did this for about a week, and were happy with the results, a very direct, unfiltered approach to creating something to support the story, and make something that is hopefully as unique as the visuals.
